Pleasantville Childcare
Learning With Joy
Surrounded by 13 acres of prairie grass, wooded trails, and a pond, Pleasantville Childcare provides Montessori early childhood education and activities to children ages 2-1/2 to 6 years in a bilingual, faith-based home environment.

Our Mission
Pleasantville Childcare offers an enriched educational experience for young children. Children's love of nature is nurtured through the daily exploration of our natural surroundings. Immersed in the great outdoors, subjects such as language and science come alive as we learn about gardening, local pollinator lifecycles, and our local fauna residents. Indoors we focus on cultivating our hearts through faith-based learning and social skills. Sensory development happens tandem to academics with fun exploration of concrete Montessori materials for math, language, science, and social studies.
Focus Areas
Our Commitment
We have prepared a beautiful environment where young children can learn as they explore through their senses. Our mixed-age community facilitates learning from one another while cultivating the necessary social skills to be compassionate peacekeepers. Multi-sensory Montessori materials invite the child to explore the physical properties of the natural world. Come and see!

Practical Life
Life Skills Development
Our practical life curriculum facilitates both gross motor development and refinement of hand movements, assisting with both independence and with preparation for writing. We learn to care for the environment around us, both indoors and outdoors, as we exercise our social skills and cultivate a culture of community. We grow as a team during outdoor explorations and work on outdoor projects.
Sensory Exploration

Refining the Senses
Through Montessori-designed sensory activities, children can refine their visual, auditory, olfactory, and tactile senses, enhancing fine motor skills and laying the foundation for future academic work. Our art muscles are exercised through various media.

Math and Language
Mathematical & Linguistic Skills
Our math program introduces children to concepts like the decimal system and fractions using Montessori-designed concrete materials. We make the most of the language sensitivity of this age group by incorporating fun as we grow in phonemic sensitivity, vocabulary, and writing readiness.
Faith and Foreign Languages

Compassion and Fellowship
It is fun to sing as we listen to Bible verses with music. Praying for one another helps us grow in compassion and gives us courage for the future. We learn Spanish as we listen and sing to Spanish children's songs and Spanish translations of some of our favorite children's stories.
Science and Social Studies

Cultural Work
We sample tasty bits during science and cultural work as we cook what we grow in the garden or sample recipes from other parts of the world. Appreciation for art history and music comes to the classroom as we learn about master painters and composers while discussing their works and listen to classical music. We study samples we collect during our field walks and compare what we learn about science with the world we touch and see.
